Q: I am new to New Brunswick and just want to make sure I have the proper coverage.

The state of New Jersey requires all drivers to have automobile insurance.
New Jersey actually has many options when it comes to auto insurance due to the Auto Insurance Cost Reduction Act which basically states that some form or motor vehicle insurance be available to most motorists.
The cheapest available option is the Basic Insurance plan, but be warned it only covers damage to the other driver's car.
You are responsible for paying for all injuries, pain and suffering, lost wages, or any other related cost.
The next best plan offered is the Standard Policy.
Basically what should be included in a New Brunswick Standard automobile policy at minimum is $15,000 dollars per person per accident, $5000 for property damage per accident, and $250,000 dollars per accident if you or someone covered under your policy is permanently or significantly injures.
These limits can be raised by paying a higher premium and you should protect yourself and your assets by purchasing the amount of coverage you think you may need.
